Michael P. Murphy

Michael Murphy has more than 25 years experience in business litigation, employment law, environmental litigation, construction law and insurance coverage. He has tried and litigated numerous cases in federal and state courts.

Michael represents individuals and companies of all sizes, ranging from sole proprietorships to Fortune 100 companies, in diverse and complex matters. These matters have recently included the defense of employment discrimination claims; litigation and advice to employers regarding non-competition provisions and employee discharge issues; recovery at trial of multiple damages for unfair and deceptive trade practices; arbitration to assess responsibility for the contamination of a municipal water supply; arbitration to recover costs from insurer for mold damage and reconstruction of an historic Boston church; resolution through mediation of claims of unfair business practices between non-profit entities; handling insurance coverage and cost recovery cases for owners of property contaminated by oil or hazardous materials; representing clients in regulatory compliance or enforcement proceedings with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the United States Environmental Protection Agency; and arbitration and litigation for recovery of damages in construction cases.

Michael is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Jersey, and in the First Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the New Hampshire Bar Association.
