Paul Haverty's practice focuses on the representation of developers before the various local boards with permitting authority for construction projects in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (including zoning boards of appeal, planning boards and conservation commissions). Paul has particular experience representing developers of comprehensive permit developments pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40B, both before local boards of appeal and before the Housing Appeals Committee. Additionally, Paul has represented developers seeking project approvals of Smart Growth Zoning projects pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40R. Paul is the co-author with Ted Regnante of a number of published articles in professional journals and publications on topics in his practice area.
Recent projects Paul has been involved in permitting include a 64 unit comprehensive permit project in Lunenburg, Housing Appeals Committee litigation regarding a 16 unit project in Walpole, and ongoing post-permitting work regarding a 164 unit rental project in Marion.
Prior to joining the firm, Paul served as the law clerk to Judge Karyn F. Scheier, now Chief Justice of the Land Court. Paul is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar, and is a member of the Real Estate Bar Association.
